DERA GHAZI KHAN:
A civil court issued non-bailable arrest warrants on Wednesday for a tehsil municipal officer. He is accused of withholding payment to a lawyer whose services he had acquired in 2010. Former Dera Ghazi Khan bar association general secretary Saleem Jan Khan Khosa had filed a petition saying that Dera Ghazi Khan Tehsil Municipal Authority owed him Rs250,000 legal fees for cases Khosa had been hired to plead in 2010. He said the then TMO Chaudhry Tahir had promised to pay him but he never did. Khosa then filed a case against them in the court of Judge Faraz Arshad in 2012. The court sent Tahir several notices but he did not respond. Judge Arshad told the bailiff to produce him in court last week. Khosa said that Tahir had not paid him in six years. Tahir was brought to court where he asked the judge for two week to arrange for the money. The judge gave him two weeks. The weeks were up on Wednesday and Tahir was expected to come to the court and hand over the money. Tahir arrived in the court and asked the judge to give him a few hours to bring the money to court. He then left the court premises and did not return. The court then issued non-bailable arrest warrants for him and ordered that his car be confiscated and his bank accounts be frozen.
