PFA seals eight restaurants
Food authority seizes 2,000 kgs of sub-standard food products in various raids

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday seized over 2,000 kilogrammes of sub-standard food products from Lahore.
Authority officials raided food outlets at Lorry Adda and found a huge quantity of unhygienic food products. A team of Ravi Town food safety officers, led by Operations Director Ayesha Mumtaz, seized unhygienic food products from eight restaurants and sealed them. Samples from these have been sent to laboratory for detailed examination.
PFA teams also sealed Rana Jee Murgh Chanay. The authority’s Data Ganj Bakhsh Town officials sealed Shahid Biryani, Bismillah Food Corner and Salahuddin Restaurant in Regal Chowk for poor cleanliness.
PFA Samanabad Town food safety officers sealed Shahbaz Juice Corner, Nasir Ice Cream Stall and Multani Hotel. Open drains were found at the outlets. Also, their staff did not have the required medical certificates.
The authority’s Nishtar Town officials sealed Chaman Sweets in Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate. PFA officials found insects in the production area. The Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate Canteen was sealed for using sub-standard and unhealthy ketchup. Production and expiry dates were not mentioned on the burgers being sold at the canteen.
PFA officials also fined Chaudhry Hotel in Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate, Aslam Food Company in Manawan, Lasani Burger and Hafiz Naan Shop at Shalimar Link Road. The authority has directed all food outlets to improve sanitation standards.
