Annual report presented : NAB chairman calls on Sardar Ayaz Sadiq
Apprise NA speaker on institute’s performance during 2015
ISLAMABAD:
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairperson Qamar Zaman Chaudhry called on National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Parliament House and presented him the institute’s annual report for the year 2015.
Sadiq said that the NAB’s role in eradication of corruption was very important.
Chaudhry said that the NAB was committed to eradicating corruption by adopting a policy of zero tolerance across the board.
Due to the NAB’s efforts, according to Transparency International’s report for the year 2015, Corruption Perception Index (CPI) of Pakistan has decreased from 126 to 117, which is a great achievement for the country.
According to the NAB’s report for 2015, out of 1,777 inquiries, the bureau completed 1,114 inquiries during the year.
Chaudhry said that out of 731 investigations, the NAB completed 402 investigations.
He said that the bureau also filed 397 corruption references in respective accountability courts across the country.
Chaudhry said that the measures taken by the present management for eradication of corruption, and to raise public awareness about the ill effects of corruption had started to yield positive results.
