Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to suspend its proceedings against Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf leader Aleem Khan in a complaint filed by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
Justice Ayesha A Malik issued the stay order in a petition filed by Aleem Khan. She asked the ECP to submit its reply in the matter by May 17.
The petition said that the ECP had started proceedings on Ayaz Sadiq’s complaint against Aleem Khan without holding an investigation on the matter. In its complaint, Sadiq had accused Khan of submitting forged affidavits in an election tribunal set up to hear in a case regarding the by-election in the NA-122 constituency.
