FAISALABAD:

A man murdered two of his sons and injured his wife and another son in a Nawan Lahore police precinct, Toba Tek Singh district, on Tuesday. He had suspected that his wife was having an affair with a neighbour. Police have arrested him.

SHO Tariq Mahmood told The Express Tribune that Wilayatullah, a resident of Chak 332-GB, Muhammad Dhannipur, a suburb of Gojra, had stabbed four members of his family while they were asleep on Tuesday morning. His daughter, away at A maternal uncle’s house, was unharmed.

Mahmood said nine-year-old Ali Haider and his brother Saqlain, 10, died.

Shakeela Bibi, Wilayatullah’s wife, and her son Ali Hassan had also been stabbed.

They were taken to Allied Hospital where doctors said their condition was serious.

Neighbours called the police.

Muhammad Ismaeel, a neighbor, said Wilayatullah had beaten up his wife and sons on several previous occasions. “The neighbours knew he was abusive to them. Wilayatullah had accused Shakeela of having an affair with several men in the village.”

Ismaeel said that Wilayatullah used to accuse his sons of siding with their mother and aiding her “wrongdoings”.

Another neighbour, Muhammad Jameel, however, said Wilayatullah was possibly mentally deranged. “He was extremely abusive towards his family. Everyone here knew how badly he used to treat his family and beat them up.”

Jameel said Wilayatullah had been unemployed for three months. “He stayed home and got into frequent altercations with his family.”

Mahmood said they had arrested Wilayatullah.

“We have registered an FIR under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (murder) on a complaint filed by Shakeela Bibi’s brother Muhammad Akhtar.”
