Shazia Ammar, a socialite and one of the design partners behind the clothing brand Ivy, shares her exquisite jewellery collection and the stories behind her favourite pieces

When did you get interested in jewellery?

I’ve been obsessed with jewellery since I was a teenager, but to be honest my husband (then fiancé) really indulged this passion of mine by constantly buying me pieces.

What are your favourite pieces of jewellery?

I love necklaces whether it’s a chunky neckpiece from Ted Baker or an emerald and diamond choker from Neemar Jewels; necklaces are my go-to jewellery item. My favourite pieces, though, are gifts from my husband — a diamond bracelet and a solitaire ring.

Where did you get them from?

As they are gifts from my husband he would know better but I was gifted the diamond bracelet on the birth of my daughter and the solitaire ring on the birth of my son.

Is there any piece you are emotionally attached to and why?

I’m very attached to my Rolex watch as it was the last present from my father before he passed away. Every time I wear it I feel his presence and I can’t simply part with it now!

Share a story with us about how you acquired one of your favorite pieces?

I had my eye on a carved jade polki necklace when my husband and I went to India with a few friends. We especially went to Jaipur but found out that the jewellers had gone to Delhi for an exhibition, we ended up following them to Delhi but once we got there we were informed that they had already left. Exhausted, we joined our Indian friends at a dinner and luckily ran into one of the jewellers there, who managed to get me my necklace.

Is there anything on your radar that you want to get in the future?

There’s nothing that’s currently on my radar! I’m actually quite content with my collection but obviously if something interesting catches my eye I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on it!
