Training on stone carving, lacquer art kicks off

Apart from school students, children of visitors are also encouraged to learn craft-making techniques

ISLAMABAD:


A week-long training programme in lacquer art and stone carving for children started at the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) here on Monday.


Sixty children, aged between six to 14 years from various schools colleges, are participating in the programme.


Master artisans, who are imparting the training include Samiullah, an expert in lacquer art from DI Khan and Zahid Hussain, an expert in stone carving from Taxila.

Both of them have been participating in national and international exhibitions and festivals and demonstrating their artisanship.

Apart from school students, children of visitors are also encouraged to learn craft-making techniques from master artisans without any charges.
