A 2012 Express Tribune video interview, which has been edited for malicious purposes, is being circulated on social media, giving the impression that it is a recent clip.
Acid attack victim, Rukhsana, makes false and unsubstantiated allegations against the two-time Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy in the course of the video. Further, the filmmaker's version has been edited out of the said video, making it one-sided.
Sharmeen Obaid wins second Oscar award
The allegations have been independently investigated by The Express Tribune and the clip has been removed by the Express Group as Ruksana's claims were found to be incorrect and misleading after investigation. The video is evidently being circulated by vested interests purely to create confusion and tarnish Sharmeen's reputation.
