A 2012 Express Tribune video interview, which has been edited for malicious purposes, is being circulated on social media, giving the impression that it is a recent clip.

Acid attack victim, Rukhsana, makes false and unsubstantiated allegations against the two-time Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy in the course of the video. Further, the filmmaker's version has been edited out of the said video, making it one-sided.

The allegations have been independently investigated by The Express Tribune and the clip has been removed by the Express Group as Ruksana's claims were found to be incorrect and misleading after investigation. The video is evidently being circulated by vested interests purely to create confusion and tarnish Sharmeen's reputation.

Liaquat Hussain | 8 years ago | Reply This slandering of Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has got to end! Thank you E Tribune for FINALLY speaking out against this video which has been doctored. However, the damage has been done and TRIBUNE as an organisation must undo the seed of hate it has created against Sharmeen - that will require objective reporting on her character which you will see through her many films that she has directed and produced in the past years.
Abdullah Ali | 8 years ago | Reply Shameful how this video has been manipulated to tarnish the images of a woman and team who is trying to make positive changes in this country. Good job on Tribune for speaking out and clearing the air! All the best, Sharmeen!
