Labour Day message: Dedicated workforce key to development projects: Nawaz
Workforce is extremely significant for the socio-economic development of any country
ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that a dedicated workforce can help complete mega infrastructure projects in the country as he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity and status of labourers.
In his Labour Day message, Nawaz appreciated workers and paid tribute to their struggle.
“Workforce is extremely significant for the socio-economic development of any country,” he said. “The committed, hardworking and skilled Pakistanis serve as the backbone of our national progress and development.”
“I regard workers as a special group making significant contributions towards nation building and achieving sustained economic growth for Pakistan,” he said.
The premier noted that workers are key to mega infrastructure projects in the country such as road networks, motorways and power generation projects and even the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which will transform the lives of millions of people in the region. “All of these projects and others can only be completed with the help of [a] dedicated workforce.”
Nawaz added that his government remains committed to the goal of achieving growth, economic expansion, job creation and a higher standard of living for all workers and their families. “We believe in granting labourers their due social and economic status as only prosperous and satisfied workforce can enable Pakistan to participate and compete in today’s highly competitive globalised market economy.”
