Illegal activity: IG for action against gutka trade

HYDERABAD: Acknowledging loopholes in the existing laws against the illegal trade of the hazardous gutka, Sindh Inspector General (IG) AD Khawaja has underscored the need of legislation to maximise the punishment. Currently, the police have been unsuccessful in enforcing a ban under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code as the illegal trade continues unabated. Talking to the media in Tando Muhammad Khan, the IG emphasised on making laws against gutka and ensuring severe punishment for offenders.
