Surgery on surgery: ‘Register case against doctor’
Malik requested the court to direct the pertinent SHO to register a case against the doctor
LAHORE:
An additional district and sessions judge on Friday sought comments from the Manga Mandi SHO in connection with a petition seeking the registration of a case against a doctor.
Petitioner Atif Malik said his two-year-old daughter had been complaining of stomach pain for months. He said he had taken her to Major Ahmed at Hameed Latif Hospital. Malik said he had told him to bring his daughter to Raiwind’s Social Security Hospital where he operated on her on October 20, 2015. He said the doctor had conducted another six surgeries on his daughter without obtaining his consent. Malik said Ahmed had demanded an additional Rs45,000 after he had asked for his daughter’s report. He said he had earlier paid him Rs600,000. The petitioner said the doctor had conducted the consequent surgeries only to fleece them. This, he said, was illegal and unethical. Malik requested the court to direct the pertinent SHO to register a case against the doctor.
