Old markets: Traders ask CDA to improve infrastructure
The condition of roads, footpaths in old markets was very unsatisfactory and urged the CDA to take up traders’ issues
ISLAMABAD:
Newly elected members of the Traders’ Welfare Association of Sitara Market have demanded that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) focus on improvement of infrastructure in the old markets for better growth of business activities.
The new elected members led by its President Altaf Hussain Shah visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday and highlighted the problems and issues of traders in G-7 Markaz. They said that the oldest market of Islamabad lacked facilities with broken roads and open manholes.
They said that non-availability of a filtration plant and public toilets were creating problems for the traders, but the CDA was paying no attention to the improvement of the important business centre.
ICCI acting Presidenty Sheikh Pervez Ahme said that the civic agency was not playing its role in resolving the issues being faced by the business community. He said that the condition of roads, footpaths in old markets was very unsatisfactory and urged the CDA to take up traders’ issues on a priority basis.
