young women: SCB launches financial literacy programme

SCB CEO Shazad Dada said the bank’s decision to bring Goal to Pakistan would contribute to the society

KARACHI:

In a bid to boost gender parity, Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Pakistan launched on Wednesday an educational programme called “Goal”.

The initiative is aimed at providing financial literacy, life skills and employability training to low-income adolescent girls across the country. It will empower young girls with the help of sports and life skills training.

SCB CEO Shazad Dada said the bank’s decision to bring Goal to Pakistan would contribute to the society. “Pakistan’s population that mostly comprises a young age bracket often lacks opportunities to thrive,” he said. “It is important to take the support of such programmes in order to help people most at risk.” Dada continued that the programme was being delivered through the bank’s international NGO partner, Women Win. The programme, launched in 2006, is now running in 20 countries and helps over 217,000 young women.
