Emotions were running high on Twitter as Shahbaz Taseer celebrated his first birthday after being released on Tuesday.

Shahbaz Taseer lights up Twitter with account of Taliban captivity

The eldest Taseer was held by the Taliban for nearly five years so we can't blame anyone for getting a little sentimental. As wishes poured in, Shahbaz's wife Maheen Taseer tweeted a picture of his cake, expressing gratitude for his return.

Shahbaz has been exceptionally active on social media since his return. Last month, he took his followers by surprise when he decided to conduct an impromptu Q&A session using the hashtag #AskST.

Keeping the trend alive, he tweeted a picture of a cake which seemed a little more to his own liking (a Manchester United-themed cake).

In another tweet, Shahbaz gracefully responded by saying he was nothing but proud in every sense of the word about his past.
