Extinct Language: Tribespeople struggle to revive Ormuri
They are encouraging people to speak the language by singing song in the dialect
PESHAWAR:
Tribespeople from South Waziristan have launched a campaign to revive the centuries-old dialect of Ormuri that is spoken by Barki tribe of South Waziristan. The language is on the verge of extinction due to displacement of locals. Singer Shaukat Shogeer Wazir and poet Roedad Khan Barki are at the forefront of this campaign. They are encouraging people to speak the language by singing song in the dialect.
