The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has organised a workshop, set to run till April 22, aimed at looking into the idea of setting Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Pakistan.
Internet Exchange Point (IXP) is a physical infrastructure through which Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Contact Delivery Networks (CDNs) exchange internet traffic between their networks. The primary purpose of an IXP is to allow networks to interconnect directly, via the exchange.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has organised a workshop, set to run till April 22, aimed at looking into the idea of setting Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Pakistan.
Setting up of IXP is one such initiative which would help Pakistan improve internet access, business environment and local content, PTA Chairman Dr Syed Ismail said while addressing the workshop.
Ismail said that owing to the introduction of latest 3G/ 4G technologies, exponential growth has been seen in broadband users. The number of users had already crossed the 30-million-mark which constitutes 17% of the total population.
