KOHISTAN:

At least 17 teachers of the Kohistan education department were dismissed from their service while 77 others face disciplinary action as they all were found absent from work. This was said on Wednesday by an officer of the Kohistan education department.

The official told journalists a monitoring exercise found 17 women teaching at different primary schools of the district absent for a long time. He added although the teachers were issued show-cause notices they did not submit satisfactory replies, causing them to be terminated from service after disciplinary proceedings.

Sources privy to the record said the monitoring teams also caught 77 other female teachers skipping their duties without submitting an application in advance for leave or absence. They were also issued show-cause notices

"They could also face termination or would have had to pay back the money they have so far drawn in salaries,” an official said.
