Ali Gilani had earlier said the interior ministry had placed his name on ECL on May 15

LAHORE: Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday overruled an objection of the registrar office and ordered that a petition by Ali Musa Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, seeking the removal of his name from the exit control list, be fixed before a bench. The office had returned the plea previously with the objection that the petitioner should approach the Rawalpindi bench as the ephedrine case against him was pending before a trial court in Islamabad. Ali Gilani had earlier said the interior ministry had placed his name on ECL on May 15, 2013 over allegations levelled against him in the ephedrine quota case. He said that he had proved his innocence in court. He had also alleged that the interim government had placed his name on the ECL out of malice because he and his father had criticised the interim government when his brother Ali Haider Gilani was kidnapped.  He had requested the court to direct the Ministry of Interior to remove his name from the ECL.
