Advisory service: PCRWR to improve irrigation practices
Such messages will be onward sent on weekly basis in summer and fortnightly basis in winter
ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has launched weekly irrigation advisory service for its trainee farmers to help improve irrigation practices. PCRWR, a department of Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), has trained around 700 farmers in 2015 under a project -called the Watershed Rehabilitation and Irrigation Improvement in Pakistan. An inventory of trainee farmers was developed for follow-up to ultimately let them adopt informed and improved irrigation practices. The service is a step towards achieving that objective which informs the farmers about their net weekly irrigation requirements considering evapotranspiration and precipitation. Such messages will be onward sent on weekly basis in summer and fortnightly basis in winter.
