Kidnapping for ransom: Man sentenced to 25 years in prison

The prosecutor said the kidnapper demanded $0.5 million in ransom.

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) sentenced a man convicted in a kidnapping case to 25 years in prison on Tuesday.



The verdict was announced by ATC judge Abdur Rauf Khan. According to the prosecution, Muhammad Fawad, a resident of Pishtakhara in the city, had kidnapped a 17-year-old boy identified as Manochar from Jehangirabad.


The prosecutor said the kidnapper demanded $0.5 million in ransom. He added the victim was kept in unhygienic conditions. The prosecutor told the court the police rescued the victim during a raid on the kidnapper’s house on July 3, 2015.
