Shehzad downs Lim to move into next round

Joins compatriots Asif, Sajjad and Bilal in last-32 stage of Asian Snooker Championship.

KARACHI: Sohail Shehzad joined compatriots Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Sajjad and Mohammad Bilal in the last-32 stage of the Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS) Asian Snooker Championship with a 4-3 win over Malaysia’s Lim Kok Leong in Doha, Qatar.

Lim had the better start as he won the first frame but Shehzad hit back by winning three consecutive frames to make it 3-1 in his favour.

Lim showed timely resistance to stop Shehzad’s attack and drew parity at 3-3.

However, it was Shehzad who won the decider and the match by scores of 30-64, 87-24, 89-04, 87-01, 32-59, 22-87 and 57-06.

Meanwhile, Sajjad won 4-0 against Qatar’s Ahmed Saif by a scoreline of 71-33, 71-38, 69-45 and 91-0(73) while he won in similar fashion against Bahrain’s Ahmed alJanahi as well.

U21 Snooker: Unseeded duo to meet in final

Saudia Arabia’s Omar alAjlani ended Asif’s unbeaten run in the group as he thrashed him 4-0.

Asif got a timely reminder going into the knockout stages as Omar won by 77-36, 123-01(69), 74-52 and 86-06(76).
