MQM urges army chief for meeting

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has sought a meeting with Army Chief General Raheel Sharif to provide him evidence of the threats their leaders and parliamentarians are receiving to join the new party led by dissident Mustafa Kamal.
“We appeal to army chief to intervene, play his role and end the game being played with us,” urged MQM Convener Nadeem Nusrat during a press conference in Karachi via video link from London on Monday.
Several MQM leaders leave country amid rising confusion in party ranks
“Our parliamentarians, chairmen and vice chairmen, union councillors and town in-charges are getting threatening calls from known and unknown numbers,” he said. He alleged that some elements from agencies were involved in pressurising MQM members. “Around 99.9% of people have rejected this ‘dry-cleaning factory’ set up on Khayaban-e-Sehar while parliamentarians are being forced to join through threats,” he added.
