Lowari tunnel reopens: Landslide damages houses in Chitral

The families affected by the landslide have gone to safer places

CHITRAL: The Lowari Tunnel that connects Chitral to the rest of the country was opened for traffic on Monday morning, after it had been closed for about one and a half month. The Lowari Tunnel had been closed due to heavy snowfall, but could be opened after army engineers were able to remove the snow. In a separate incident, heavy rain caused a landslide in the Gujjal are of Garam Chashma that damaged the house of three families, namely of Muhammad Wali, Muhammad Ayub and Ghulam. No casualties or injuries were reported. The families affected by the landslide have gone to safer places. However, they complain that they have no shelter and are forced to live under the open sky.
