The announcement was made by AC/DC member themselves, who said that Rose will join them as a vocalist for the remaining dates of their ‘Rock or Bust’ world tour, before Guns N’ Roses own summer tour kicks off. “AC/DC will resume their ‘Rock or Bust’ tour with Axl Rose joining on vocals,” the band announced on Saturday.
Rose will be taking the place of long-time AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson, who was forced to quit the tour abruptly on the risk of a “total hearing loss.” ACDC’s went on to thank Johnson for his work with the band, over the years. “AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years,” read the statement. “We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian’s decision to stop touring and save his hearing,” the band added. AC/DC also said that, “We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments for everyone that has supported us over the years and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment.”
AC/DC’s European stadium tour begins in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 7 and runs through to June 12 in Aarhus, Denmark. The 10 US shows that were postponed due to Johnson’s sudden departure will also be rescheduled with Rose taking on the vocals. Following this, he is expected to head out on the Guns N’ Roses ‘Not In this Lifetime’ summer stadium tour.
