HANGU:

Nurses and lady health workers in Hangu demanded that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government set up a registration office for them in their region.

They made this demand during a protest on Sunday as they are facing problems with the issuance of nursing registration cards.

The employees said the Pakistan Nursing Council in Islamabad is the only office from where registration cards can be issued.

They said the wait can be as long as two months and new members have to visit the office in Islamabad twice.

Meanwhile, older employees have to go after every five years to get their cards renewed. That is not the only problem -- to make matters worse, they have to go there at their own expense.

Therefore, women nurses and lady health workers urged the provincial government to ease the process and set up a registration centre in
their region.
