Industrial development: Trade body to hold exhibitions for six sectors
Consultations with stakeholder's to come up with a strategy underway.
KARACHI:
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) will organise exhibitions, including the Expo Pakistan, starting from October for six different sectors of the economy in a bid to promote Pakistan-made products, said TDAP Chief Executive Tariq Puri.
The sectors under TDAP’s promotional umbrella this time include minerals, copper, agro food, pharmaceutical products, engineering and sports goods.
Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, Puri said that TDAP is in consultation with the stakeholders to come up with a strategy for organising these exhibitions.
TDAP has also decided to develop Harmonised System (HS) code on its web portal to enhance sustainable contacts between exporters and their buyers abroad. HS code will enable foreign buyers to access Pakistani exporters and their product description via an eight-digit code.
TDAP’s website will not only help the manufacturers, exporters and foreign buyers but also assist the media by apprising them of the happenings in the industrial world, added Puri. TDAP has also created a special IT department to look after the web portal.
