Ecosystem: Rare blind dolphin washes ashore
Indus blind dolphin was found near Ali Wahan village, four kilometres from Rohri.

A Indus blind dolphin was found near Ali Wahan village, four kilometres from Rohri early Monday. Fishermen in the area informed wildlife officials about a dead dolphin that got washed ashore. A team from the wildlife department, headed by Deputy Director Ghulam Mohammad Gadani, reached the scene and sent the dolphin’s body for an autopsy.
Gadani told The Express Tribune that the dolphin was a baby female, approximately two years old, weighing 24 kilograms and measuring three and a half feet. He said that it is suspected that the dolphin may have died after becoming entangled in a fishing-net. It is also believed that fishermen may have poisoned the waters after the cleaning process of Sukkur Barrage.
