KARACHI:

In the race for new inductions, two individuals with no political background — television producer Haider Rizvi and retired judge Karam Chand — joined the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Friday.

The induction was announced at a press conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat in Azizabad. The party started announcing new recruits amid live media coverage following the weekly pressers of MQM dissident Mustafa Kamal, who returned to Karachi last month and subsequently launched Pak Sarzameen Party, which mostly comprises former MQM members.

Rizvi explained he had old ties with the MQM but wanted to formally announce joining the party. Referring to the dissidents, he said they were seasonal people and the air will soon blow out of their balloon. "They are being dictated. They are not leaders," he said.
