Vice Versa: a new album by Taimur Tajik

"Vice Versa is all about the people as I see them and I hope they see me in that same retrospect," says Tajik.

Mother, mother

Set me free

Leave me searching

Endlessly

Oh, I do

I’m somebody’s son

Somebody’s one

And I will wait for you

-“Somebody’s Son”

Singer and musician Taimur Tajik launched his album at Nida Butt’s Music Art and Dance (MAD) School on Zamzama. The ambience was initially cosy and inviting but became too congested as many of Tajik’s well-wishers gathered to support the artists and wish him luck.

The hour-long event featured Tajik performing six songs with only this guitar as his fellow companion. The fact Tajik performed alone was a little surprising for the audience to which Tajik said, “The thought of performing with a band is a little upsetting because of the fact that someone or the other disappears when it comes to the actual performance, so I thought it was better to perform on my own.”

All the songs sung by Tajik held significance for the artists with the first song of the evening being “Cover Me”.  “This song is about people who you have met and they haunt you and you don’t know if they would be there later for you or not.” The next song, “Somebody’s Son” was dedicated to the memory of Tajik’s mother, “This is for my mother who is not here and hasn’t seen any of my music related stuff,” said the singer.

Tajik also sang “Far From Here” and “Disappear” which he said, “Is about oneself and asks that if you were not here in this world, how would people remember you?” Other songs which were performed included “Let It Burn” and “Drown”.

With his strong and alluring acoustic voice, Taimur Tajik mesmerised the audience and the evening was enjoyable for all the spectators, some of who were hearing his music for the first time.

The album consists of mainly hard rock said Tajik, “It is important that people look past the fact that it is in only English and I hope they understand this rock album.
“Hopefully people will listen to it and know what the product is all about and sustain it. It is an uphill battle but I am willing to fight the fight,” said Tajik.

Vice Versa is all about the people as I see them and I hope they see me in that same retrospect,” he added.

In the past the artists had repeatedly mentioned and thanked musicians John Louis Pinto aka Gumby and Omran Shafique but unfortunately the two were not present at the event.

Musician Faraz Haider, whose Rex Studio was where Taimur Tajik recorded all the songs for Vice Versa, also attended the launch to extend his support to the singer.
