Eligibility: Judge refuses to hear plea against MPA’s election
On April 5, the judge had overruled an objection to the plea and ordered to fix it before an LHC bench
LAHORE:
Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday refused to take up a petition challenging the election of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Mian Tariq.
On April 5, the judge had overruled an objection to the plea and ordered to fix it before an LHC bench.
On Monday, Justice Qureshi returned the petition to the chief justice so that it might be fixed before another bench.
Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid candidate Ijaz Chaudhry had challenged the election of Mian Tariq Mahmood from PP-113, Gujrat-IV. He said Tariq was not a righteous man because he had concealed his job in Spain while contesting the election. He said Tariq had also not disclosed his assets while filing nomination papers. He had requested that Tariq be disqualified.
