Annual harvest: Wheat purchase drive from April 20
Food Department said that the wheat procurement target for the Punjab was four million metric tonnes

The annual wheat procurement drive in Faisalabad division will commence on April 20. The Food Department has set up 37 wheat procurement centres in the division. A spokesperson for the Food Department said on Sunday that the wheat procurement target for the Punjab was four million metric tonnes.
Of that, 504,000 tonnes will be procured in Faisalabad division, 746,000 tonnes from Bahawalpur division, 673,000 tonnes from Multan division, 485,000 tonnes from Sahiwal division, 474,000 tonnes from Dera Ghazi Khan division, 432,000 tonnes from Gujranwala division, 342,000 tonnes from Sargodha division, 339,000 tonnes from Lahore division and 5,000 metric tonnes from Rawalpindi division.
The spokesperson said gunny bags (Bardana) will be distributed in all divisions starting April 15. He said 37 wheat procurement centres had been set up across the division – 11 centres in Faisalabad district, 15 centres in Jhang district, six centres in Toba Tek Singh district and five centres in Chiniot district. He said 140,000 metric tonnes wheat would be purchased in Faisalabad, 197,000 tonnes in Jhang, 109,000 tonnes from Toba Tek Singh and 58,000 metric tonnes from Chiniot.
