The Sindh Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) has begun an investigation into Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s (HMC) land department’s complicity in authorising the use of non-commercial land for commercial purposes. An ACE team raided HMC’s Latifabad office and seized records of allowing construction of commercial buildings and marriage halls in residential Latifabad Unit 6 area. According to ACE inspector Asad Larik, the HMC land office staff initially resisted handing over the official records but relented after they were threatened that the their office would be sealed.
