LAHORE:

United States Ambassador David Hale called on Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana at the Governor’s House on Tuesday.

The ambassador expressed his heartfelt feelings over the tragic Gulshan-i-Iqbal Park incident. Other matters of mutual interest were also discussed.

Rajwana said that combating terrorism and elimination of corruption were two of the biggest priorities of the present government. “The Pakistani people have made tremendous and matchless sacrifices in the war against terrorism. The armed forces and civilians are laying down their lives in not only the defence of their own country, but for the peace and security of the whole world,” he said.

The governor said that the entire world recognised the sacrifices of the Pakistani forces and its people. “The best way to acknowledge these contributions is to support economic activities in Pakistan. The present government has put the country’s economy on the right track,” he said.

Rajwana said that the US was a proud-partner of Pakistan in development activities. “The US-Pakistan relations are getting stronger,” he said.
