ISLAMABAD: The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has appointed Prof Dr Tariq Masood as acting director-general of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE). Prof Masood worked as director model colleges before he was given the new portfolio. The appointment was made after the removal of FDE director-general Dr Ali Ahmad Kharal on the orders of the Supreme Court last week. The Supreme Court while issuing the order of removal of Kharal had also directed the CADD to fill the vacant position within 15 days. On a contempt plea filed by former FDE director-general Shahnaz Riaz challenging her removal from the post, a Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim had ordered the removal of Dr Kharal and appointment of a qualified person in his place within 15 days. Permanent appointment to the post will be made soon, said a source in the CADD.
