Bara river: Man believed dead after police encounter

According to the official, the man was hit by the bullet but fell into Bara River and disappeared

PESHAWAR: A man is believed to have died during an exchange of fire with the police while another was arrested in Choha Gujar village within the jurisdiction of Chamkani police station on Sunday. An official of Chamkani police station told The Express Tribune two people opened fire on a police mobile on routine patrol. As a result, police personnel retaliated and shot one of them. According to the official, the man was hit by the bullet but fell into Bara River and disappeared. The police were not able to find his body till this report was filed and were therefore not able to confirm whether he is alive or dead. However, the other man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested. He has been shifted to the police station for interrogation. “We [have reason to believe] both men were drunk and were try to flee from the police,” the official said.
