Two militants killed in Karachi raid

Two police officials and two militants were killed late on Saturday night when police conducted a raid in Karachi's Quaidabad area.
Police officials conducted the raid in the Lalabad area when militants opened fire. Two police officials and two militants, suspected to have links with the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi group, were killed in the cross-fire.

Two militants had been arrested from the area, prior to the raid.
The militants were said to have been heavily involved in plotting sectarian violence in the city as well as planning police killings.
Amid the shoot-out, 20 kilogrammes of explosives were also recovered.
Last month, a suspected militant wanted in a number of terrorism cases, including the Safoora Goth massacre, was arrested in Karachi.

Law enforcement agencies arrested Ali Rehmani alias Tona during an intelligence-based operation in Pipri on the outskirts of Karachi. The suspect was inspired by the Middle Eastern Islamic State terrorist group – also known by its Arabic acronym of Da’ish.
