Exhibit: Crammed for space
Artist explores crammed living spaces
LAHORE:
In a solo show underway at the Paint Bucket Art Gallery artist Zahra Aslam has attempted to explore crammed living spaces.
The exhibition features over 10 oil-on-wood pieces. Aslam said she had been inspired by she had spent her early years.
She said she had no recollection of this any longer. “My personal relationship with an urban background is used extensively in my work. My aesthetic is more concerned with the congested nature of space,” Zahra said.
Paint Bucket Art Gallery proprietor Seher Murtaza Latif said the artist’s work was truly inspirational. She said it encapsulated everything her gallery stood for.
Latif said artists of Aslam’s ilk had great talent and skill. All they need, Latif said, was a platform to showcase their work.
Paint Bucket Art Gallery curator Anum Lasharie said the attention to detail in her work represented the relationship she had with the phenomenon. “Each piece narrates a story and is conspicuous in its own way. Placed together, the pieces come together in the form of a striking display representative of the artist’s relationship with space, she said.
Aslam obtained a bachelor’s in fine arts from the National College of Arts in 2014. The exhibition will conclude on April 7.
