Getting on-board: Schoolchildren highlight importance of greenery

At least 2,415 private and 235 government nurseries have been established to provide saplings for the plantation of trees across the province. This was said Adviser to Chief Minister on Environment Ishtiaq Urmar on Saturday.



He said speaking at an event organised by City School at Pakistan Forest Institution Auditorium in University of Peshawar. The event was titled ‘Let’s Nurture the Nature’ where a large number of students from various schools were in attendance.


The adviser said the forest department was planning to involve school students as well in the project, after they have taken volunteers from universities and colleges.


On the occasion, the students performed a stage play that depicted the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government’s vision to plant a billion trees.


City School Regional Director Shireen Javed appreciated the efforts of children.
