LAHORE: Sir Syed Ahmad Khan did not found a political organisation of Muslims during the 19th century,” Oxford University Asian Studies Centre Director Faisal Devji said on Saturday. He was speaking at a session, titled The Idea of Politics in Modern Muslim Thought, on the second day of Afkar-i-Taza at Alhamra Cultural Complex. He said the Indian National Congress had demanded representation in the government but Khan was not in favour of the demand. Devji said that instead of political action Khan wanted to focus on social reform.
