Chinese company Shaanxi Xingtong Intelligent on Saturday demonstrated the working of solar-powered water pump for sprinkle and drip irrigation system at Mann village near Kasur.
Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) President Chaudhry Muhammad Zaka Ashraf, while speaking on the occasion, said that China was an ally of Pakistan and it was cooperating with it in all sectors.
He said that Pakistan’s economy was based on agriculture and the introduction of such cost-saving technologies would add a lot to the economy.
The Chinese company signed a memorandum of understanding with ZTBL a couple of days ago for the introduction of solar water pump technology for drip irrigation in Pakistan.
Ashraf added that this experiment was the continuation of strenuous efforts made by the government for the welfare and promotion of farmers
Head of Chinese delegation Yuxinlu said that the solar energy-based irrigation system may give a boost to Pakistan’s agriculture sector.
