PTI office in Rawalpindi sealed for defaulting on tax
PTI former district president Sadaqat Abbasi is administrator of the office
RAWALPINDI:
Rawalpindi excise and taxation department has sealed a district office of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for non-payment of property tax. The office is located on Murree Road.
District excise officer Aurangzeb Khan told Daily Express that the property owner had been defaulting on the tax and that several notices had been served.
PTI’s intra-party election body head quits
PTI former district president Sadaqat Abbasi is administrator of the office. A PTI spokesperson, however, claimed that the party had already vacated the office.
The development comes in wake of news that the party's chief election commissioner has tendered his resignation after developing differences with chairman Imran Khan on intra-party elections.
Confirming the development, sources told The Express Tribune that Tasneem Noorani had been demanding that “every single office of the party should be elected”.
Intra-party polls: PTI chief election commissioner Tasneem Noorani resigns
Noorani was of the view that the party should go for “genuine intra-party”, terming nomination of office bearers an undemocratic approach.
On the other hand, Imran held the view that “only one seat of every tier should be elected and the rest of office bearers should be nominated”.
