PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet approved the budget strategy paper for the fiscal year 2016-17 along with an increase in professional tax from Rs50,000 to 100,000 per annum at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak at Civil Secretariat Peshawar on Monday.

According to Minister for Public Health Engineering K-P Shah Farman, the budget strategy paper will inform departments of fund allocations so they can submit their projects accordingly.

The Cabinet also approved removal of sections 147 and 148 of the Limitation Act 1908 as Peshawar High Court had given a decision against the sections in 2012, calling them unconstitutional. Increase in expenditure of oil and gas royalty money on setting up solar energy street lights and sports facilities in districts producing these resources was also approved.

The Cabinet, however, rejected committee’s recommendation of giving grade-20 to the secretary of the commission along with grade-19 to director research and director IT.
