Megastar Amitabh Bachchan won big at the 63rd National Film Awards on Sunday, while Kangana Ranaut was named the Best Actress.
Amitabh, 73, was lauded for his “delectable and delightful portrayal” of an ageing man in Piku, while Kangana was appreciated for her heartwarming performance in Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
While Kangana was overwhelmed with joy about her award, she is also happy that Amitabh Bachchan won the Best Actor award. Kangana noted how excited she is to meet the star and to take a photo with him, which she is sure to frame.
Pinkvilla reported the Queen actor as saying, “When I saw Piku, I thought his performance was special and he did deserve a National Award for it. I am not surprised that he did but I am looking forward to that picture where Best Actor and Best Actress stand together, hug each other and click a picture. I will frame that picture.”
She added, “Mr Bachchan messaged me on my birthday, exactly at 12 in the night. Even before my parents wished me, he was the first to wish me, that is how lovely he is. Now when I will be meeting him, I know he will be very proud of me. I look forward to click a picture with him.”
The 63rd National Awards were announced on Sunday and the best in cinema across various languages were honoured in the different categories.
Rajamouli’s Baahubali won the Best Film whereas Sanjay Leela Bhansali took home the award for Best Director for Bajirao Mastani.
