Members of Police Liaison Committees (PLC) in Sarband and Pishtakhara have been asked to help police fight crime in their respective areas.
A meeting was held at Pishtakhara police station on Sunday which was attended by 45 PLC members and presided over by Hayatabad ASP Hassan Afzal. At the meeting, PLC members were asked to identify local criminals, unregistered Afghan refugees, and illegal tenants and help police in door-to-door search operations in the jurisdiction of Pishtakhara and Sarband police stations.
While addressing participants, Afzal said, “PLC members should help police in their crackdowns against motorbikes without registration, search operations and identifying criminals.”
He added, “During the search operations, [PLC members] should accompany police so they could take action against the criminals in a more effective manner.” He maintained PLC members possess more knowledge about Afghan refugees and illegal tenants as compared to the police, so they should help the police in nabbing those involved.
The ASP pointed out, “Applied-for-registration vehicles and motorbikes
are used in criminal activities. We should join hands with each other to curb this practice.”
