Women’s Day: RCCI holds expo

The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) celebrated International Women’s Day on Saturday at the chamber by arranging an expo and conference.


German Ambassador Ina Lepel was the chief guest. She said that gender equality is a worldwide issue. Workplace harassment is one of the factors that hinder women in Pakistan to come out and opt for different professions, she said.


She expressed hope that the Pakistan government will introduce more reforms in laws covering women protection.


Paintings, dresses, jewellery, handicrafts, face painting and food items made by women entrepreneurs were displayed at the stalls at the chamber.


Renowned educationist Riffat Mushtaq, Radio Pakistan’s first announcer Kanwal Naseer, DIG Helena Iqbal Saeed, Mehargarh Director Maliha Hussain, Punjab Small Industry Corp Regional Director Farrah Razzak and rock climber Nazia Parvez, who also spoke at the occasion.
