KARACHI: In current times, when major corporations around the world are contemplating and announcing layoffs, there are some looking at potential unemployment or living in fear of being shown the door.

Sensing the need to keep employee morale high, a former P&G official has decided to go one step further than just offering pep talks. He has opened a consultancy firm, Courageous Minds,  where he is looking to motivate and address employees’ concerns.

The CEO, Waqi Munim, also suggested that employees should be open to change and learning new skills as they progress in their careers.

Speaking at the launch of his consultancy company, he said, “When you have new skill sets, you feel confident and only then you can overcome your fears. We need vaccination when we fall sick; just like any other disease, we need to vaccinate ourselves to get rid of our fears,” said Munim, who has spent over 25 years in key financial positions at P&G globally.

Last year, he joined ProSiebenSat.1 in Munich as part of the executive board, but left to pursue his dream of starting a consultancy firm.

In present times, when companies are looking to change their business models, there is immense pressure on employees.

People are under so much pressure that there is a need to encourage positive attitude among them, the CEO added.

Citing companies facing these challenges, he said, “Netflix and Domino’s Pizza are two companies that were gradually failing but they completely changed their method of operating.

Netflix switched from selling DVDs to live streaming to stay in business and its share price jumped about 60% last year.

Similarly, Domino’s Pizza resigned to the fact that their product was not liked by the market, took suggestions through the social media and succeeded in increasing their share prices by 400%.
