Gas Reprieve: SSGC lifts ban on new connections

Citing reasons for moving the summary to lift the ban, they said it would help stop gas theft

ISLAMABAD:
A summary has been sent to the concerned quarters to lift the ban on issuance of gas connections for commercial purposes, according to officials of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). They added that gas supply to SSGC’s consumers had considerably increased after the addition of imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to its distribution system. While elaborating, they said uninterrupted gas supply was being ensured to CNG stations, gas-based power generation units, fertiliser plants and the industrial sector. Citing reasons for moving the summary to lift the ban, they said it would help stop gas theft, which was being committed by restaurants, confectioneries, bakeries and small-scale industries mainly, and ease deployment of heavy manpower for the checking and raids. With over 2.5 million consumers, SSGC has been making all-out efforts to ensure provision of improved services to them, added the officials.
