Pollution Charge: EPA response sought on violations plea
The agency’s legal adviser sought time to submit the compliance report
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday summoned the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) director general to reply to questions raised in a petition alleging violation of pollution charge rules. Advocate Sheraz Zaka, the petitioner’s counsel, argued that blatant violations of pollution charge rules had taken place. He said the DG had not submitted a report in line with a previous court order. He said Pakistan had pledged at the 2015 Paris conference to enforce provisions related to environmental laws but nothing had been done in this regard. The agency’s legal adviser sought time to submit the compliance report.
