“If General Musharraf returns to Pakistan, I will contest elections against him,” said former federal minister Javed Hashmi at a press conference on Friday.
Hashmi said he had predicted several years ago that Musharraf would flee abroad instead of facing a trial.
He said the National Accountability Bureau should investigate the financial corruption under Musharraf’s rule.
“Why doesn’t the NAB investigate Musharraf’s assets? How has he built castles on the salary of a soldier?” he said.
He said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan also wanted the NAB to hold Musharraf accountable.
“But the relationship between those two was such that Musharraf even gifted a dog to Imran Khan,” he said.
Responding to a question, he said he respected MQM dissident Mustafa Kamal and his views. “But the MQM should also be given a chance to answer the allegations against them,” he said.
